Born in Nigeria in 1932, is a renowned insurer, banker and businessman. He is a member of various associations and foundations including the Rotary Club of Lagos. He is also the Chairman and founder of several companies including J.Akin George & Co. Ltd (Incorporated in 1960), Sierra Leon Insurance Brokers Ltd., Marine & General Insurance Brokers in Nigeria (1969), Nigeria Int. Bank Limited, United Africa Ins. Brokers Limited. Lagos and London (Lloyds Ins. Brks) among others.

He is also the Vice President of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated and the Director of Fountain Trust bank PLC among several others.

He received several awards including the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (OFR 1983) and the Kwame Nkurmah Int. Leadership Award (2006).
